Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, has added a new “memory” feature to its Grok chatbot. This means Grok can now remember things you tell it during past chats so that it can give you more helpful and personalized answers.
For example, if you’ve told Grok about your favorite movies or hobbies before, it can use that info to make better suggestions next time you chat.
Other AI chatbots, such as ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini, already use this kind of memory. ChatGPT can remember full conversations, and Gemini also remembers details to give more personal replies.

xAI says the memory is transparent, meaning you can see what Grok remembers and delete anything you don’t want it to keep. You can also turn the memory off anytime in the app settings.
The memory feature is currently in beta, which means it’s still being tested. You can use it on Grok.com and in the Grok app on iPhones and Android phones—but not if you live in the EU or UK. xAI is also working on adding this feature to Grok on X (formerly Twitter).
