Google is rolling out an update to its Play Games service on Android that will give user profiles a significant refresh.
The new design adds gaming stats, achievements, and social tools to make it easier for players to showcase progress and connect with others.
According to Google’s help page, the update introduces “new capabilities for showcasing and tracking your game progress and stats, new ways to build your gaming community, and allowing you to tailor your profile to your liking.”
The rollout begins September 23rd in most regions, with EU and UK users receiving the changes starting October 1st. Google is also notifying Play users directly via email.
Once live, Play Games profiles and features will also appear inside the Google Play Store, reducing the need to switch between apps when managing gaming accounts.
The move brings Google’s platform closer to services like Valve’s Steam, where players can make their profiles public to share achievements, track history, and highlight milestones within the gaming community.
