Apple’s Eddy Cue revealed in court documents that Google spent a staggering $20 billion in 2022 to remain the default search engine on Safari.

This marks a significant increase from the previous year’s reported $18 billion and is the first confirmation of the exact amount paid.

The documents, part of the Department of Justice’s antitrust case against Google, also revealed that Google’s 2020 payments comprised 17.5% of Apple’s total operating income.
