Google has introduced a new AI-powered feature for Google Earth that lets users transform real-world locations into creative visual concepts using its Nano Banana 2 image generation model.
The new capability, available in the web version of Google Earth, combines Google’s satellite imagery, aerial photography, and 3D mapping data with AI image generation. Instead of simply viewing places as they exist today, users can create imaginative visualizations based on prompts.
Google says the feature can be used for a wide range of creative and practical purposes. Users can redesign the appearance of buildings, visualize renovation or construction projects before they begin, or generate informative graphics that explain landmarks and surrounding areas.
For example, someone planning to renovate a property can quickly see different architectural styles applied to an existing building. Urban planners and designers can explore project ideas, while educators and students can create engaging visual infographics using real geographic locations.
The feature is powered by Google’s latest Nano Banana 2 image generation model, which understands both the geographic context from Google Earth’s imagery and the user’s text prompts to produce realistic AI-generated visuals.
Google shared several examples demonstrating how the technology can give buildings complete makeovers, imagine future developments, and create presentation-ready graphics directly from locations viewed in Google Earth.
