If your Gmail inbox feels messy or unreliable today, you are not the only one. Many users are reporting problems with spam filtering and email classification, causing confusion and concern.
According to the official status dashboard for Google Workspace, the issue started around 5 a.m. Pacific time on Saturday. Google said users may experience emails being placed in the wrong inbox categories, along with unexpected spam warnings on normal messages.
For some users, emails that usually land in the Promotions, Social, or Updates tabs are suddenly appearing in the Primary inbox. At the same time, messages from trusted and familiar senders are being flagged with spam warnings, even though there is nothing suspicious about them.
People have taken to social media to complain that spam emails are going straight into their main inbox, while Gmail’s usual filters appear to be broken. Some users described the situation as chaotic, saying Gmail suddenly feels unreliable for sorting important messages.
Google acknowledged the problem and said it is actively working to fix it. The company also advised users to stay cautious and follow basic safety practices when opening emails, especially those coming from unknown senders.
