Google is introducing a new “Purchases” tab in Gmail that gives users a quick overview of their upcoming package deliveries.
Announced on Thursday, the new tab will gather all purchase-related emails in one place, including past orders and shipments, making it easier for users to stay on top of their deliveries.
Gmail will continue to highlight packages arriving within 24 hours at the top of the inbox, but this update provides a dedicated view for all purchase information. The feature builds on Gmail’s package-tracking tool launched in 2022, which lets users track shipments directly from their inbox without visiting the carrier’s website.

Google says the new tab will be especially useful during the holiday season. According to PwC’s 2025 holiday outlook, 39% of holiday gift spending will occur between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday. With so many purchases happening in a short period, Gmail’s new feature aims to help users track deliveries more efficiently.
The Purchases tab is rolling out globally today on both mobile and web for users with personal Google accounts.
Alongside this, Google is updating the Promotions category in Gmail. Users will soon be able to sort promotion emails by “most relevant,” making it easier to see deal updates from their favorite brands. Gmail will also start nudging users about upcoming deals and timely offers. This update will roll out in the coming weeks on mobile for personal Google accounts.
