Getty Images, one of the world’s leading visual content creators and marketplaces, has signed a multi-year global licensing deal with Perplexity.
The agreement will allow Perplexity to display Getty Images’ photos across its AI-powered search and discovery tools, offering users a more engaging and visually rich experience.
Through this partnership, Perplexity will use Getty Images’ API technology to integrate high-quality creative and editorial photos directly into its platform. The goal is to enhance how users see and understand information, while also ensuring proper credit is given to photographers and creators. Perplexity plans to improve how images are displayed by including clear image credits and links to the sources, helping educate users on the importance of using licensed content legally.
Nick Unsworth, Vice President of Strategic Development at Getty Images, said the collaboration recognizes the value of properly attributed content and supports AI platforms in delivering accurate and reliable information. He added that the deal will strengthen cooperation between both companies and ensure that Getty’s premium content continues to enrich Perplexity’s platform.
Jessica Chan, Head of Content and Publisher Partnerships at Perplexity, emphasized that attribution and accuracy are essential in today’s AI-driven world. She said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to respecting creators and helping people find trustworthy answers through powerful visual storytelling.
This collaboration marks another major step in combining trusted, licensed media with AI technology to improve how people discover and understand information online.
