Mozilla is adding a new AI feature to Firefox that lets users shake their iPhone to get an instant summary of the webpage they’re on. The feature starts rolling out this week.

On iPhone 15 Pro or newer devices, Firefox will use Apple’s on-device AI model once iOS 26 launches. Older iOS versions will instead rely on Mozilla’s cloud-based AI system, which generates summaries and places them at the top of the webpage.

In addition to shaking your phone, users can also trigger AI summaries by tapping the thunderbolt icon in the address bar or by selecting “Summarize page” from the three-dot menu at the bottom of the screen.

Mozilla says the feature will only work on webpages with fewer than 5,000 words. Users can also turn it off anytime to avoid accidental triggers from unintentional shakes.

With this release, Firefox becomes one of the first major third-party apps to integrate Apple Intelligence. The feature will initially be available only in the US and in English, but Mozilla plans to expand it to more regions, languages, and Android devices in the future.
