According to Facebook Newsroom, The giant IT company is committing to match $20 million in donation to support global relief efforts for COVID-19 coronavirus.
Fund started by the United Nations Foundation and the World Health Organization, and to the CDC Foundation, which will begin a fundraiser in the next few weeks focused on the U.S.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a Facebook post Friday, “A lot of people have told us that they want to help fight coronavirus but aren’t sure how, so we’ve worked with the United Nations Foundation and the World Health Organization to start a Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund, where anyone can go to make a donation.”
Last week, Facebook also said that it would provide free advertisements to the World Health Organization (WHO) to ensure that more people have access to accurate information about the virus.
Nations around the world are struggling to fully understand the new virus, its symptoms and spread. The virus has infected more than 132,000 individuals globally.
