This is because Australia’s federal court said that Apple and Google’s app stores are unfair to competition.
Epic will let players download Fortnite on iPhones through the Epic Games Store, but the exact date is not decided yet.
Epic sued Apple in 2020 and Google in 2021 in Australia. The court found that both companies use their power in the app market to charge high fees — up to 30% — which limits competition. But the judge said Apple and Google did not break consumer laws or act in an extremely unfair way.

Google said it disagrees with some parts of the ruling but is glad the court did not accept Epic’s demands about changing how apps are distributed or security rules.
Apple also disagrees with some parts of the ruling. They said they face strong competition everywhere and work hard to keep the App Store safe and good for developers.
In the United States, Epic lost its case against Apple but won against Google. A US court said Google’s Play Store is an illegal monopoly. Google is appealing this decision.
