Elon Musk’s social media platform X experienced a short outage on Monday, affecting thousands of users in the United States and the United Kingdom.

The platform has since been restored, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.

At its peak, nearly 40,000 users in the US reported issues accessing the platform. However, those numbers dropped significantly within a few hours, falling to around 730 reports by 10:47 a.m. EST. In the UK, reports of disruptions peaked at more than 11,000 around 8:35 a.m. EST before gradually declining as services stabilized.

Downdetector gathers outage information based on user submitted reports, meaning the actual number of affected users may differ. The spike suggests the disruption was widespread but temporary. As of now, the cause of the outage has not been officially confirmed.
