Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent reportedly granted members of Elon Musk’s DOGE access to the federal payment system, a network responsible for distributing funds on behalf of the U.S. government.
According to The New York Times, the decision was made on Friday, raising concerns among lawmakers.
Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) has already expressed alarm over the matter, writing a letter to Bessent warning that any politically motivated interference with the system could have severe consequences for both the nation and the economy. The situation has sparked debate over financial security and political influence in federal operations.
