Elon Musk says he plans to give every American child a share in SpaceX next year, but the promise raises questions about whether the giveaway will actually happen.

The announcement, shared in a post on X, comes amid a history of ambitious commitments that have faced delays or failed to materialize. Distributing shares to every American child would reportedly require Musk to give away more than $10 billion worth of stock.

While the plan would be a significant financial undertaking, it is still a more limited proposal than President Donald Trump’s reported $1.3 trillion plan aimed at winning voter support.
