Elon Musk has officially announced the creation of a new political party called the America Party, declaring on X (formerly Twitter): “Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”

This move comes after Musk previously hinted at political involvement, particularly targeting Republicans who supported Donald Trump’s budget bill. Musk said the party aims to be operational by next year, though he has a history of setting ambitious — and often delayed — timelines.

He also outlined a strategic plan for gaining political influence: “One way to execute on this would be to laser-focus on just 2 or 3 Senate seats and 8 to 10 House districts,” aiming to hold sway over critical votes in Congress.

Musk’s political venture could further intensify his already high-profile role in U.S. public discourse, combining his influence in tech, media, and now, potentially, American politics.
