DuckDuckGo has enhanced its built-in scam protection tool to now detect and warn users about fake e-commerce websites, fraudulent crypto exchanges, and misleading virus scam pages.
The feature, available in DuckDuckGo’s browser, already blocks phishing, malware, and common online scams by showing a warning when users attempt to visit dangerous sites.
With the latest update, the scam blocker now offers broader protection against deceptive platforms that often trick users into entering personal or financial information. This includes scammy online stores that don’t deliver products, shady crypto platforms, and pages that use scare tactics like fake virus alerts to prompt downloads or subscriptions.
The tool is enabled by default in DuckDuckGo’s browser and is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to prioritize privacy and user safety without requiring users to manage complicated settings.
