Apple has decided to end its Clips video editing app after eight years.
The app was first launched in 2017 as a simple way to make short videos with music, filters, and text. It was designed mainly for social media sharing and became popular for its easy editing tools and fun effects. Over time, Apple added new features like AR scenes and advanced editing options, but in recent years, updates had slowed down.
Now, Apple has officially removed the Clips app from the App Store. The company updated its support page, saying that the Clips app is no longer being updated and will not be available for new users to download from October 10, 2025.
If you already have the app, you can still use it on your iPhone or iPad, but Apple suggests saving your videos directly to your Photos library. This is to make sure you don’t lose your work if a future iOS update causes the app to stop working.
Apple has also shared step-by-step instructions on how to save your videos, with or without effects, on its support page.
