Apple has announced a new Apple Intelligence-powered security feature at WWDC 2026 that can automatically help fix weak and compromised passwords.
At the moment, Safari and Apple’s built-in Passwords app can already warn users when a password is weak, reused, or found in a data breach. When someone creates a new account, Apple can also alert them if the password is not strong enough and suggest a more secure one through Safari.

However, Apple’s password manager and Safari have not been able to automatically fix weak or compromised passwords on behalf of users. That is now changing with a new AI-powered feature designed to take action more directly.
Apple says the Passwords app and Safari will use AI to understand user behavior and automatically secure eligible accounts by updating them to stronger passwords. The company describes the feature as an agentic password manager, meaning it can take certain actions for users instead of only showing warnings.
The feature will launch with iOS 27 and will work inside Apple’s Passwords app and Safari. Apple says it will be able to automatically update supported accounts to strong passwords, helping users improve their security with less manual effort.
Apple says users should not have to worry about privacy or safety because the feature is powered by the next generation of Apple Foundation Models. The company says these models are built into Apple Intelligence and are designed with privacy as a core part of the system.
According to Apple, the latest models run both on device and on servers using Private Cloud Compute. Apple says every part of the new Apple Intelligence architecture is built with privacy in mind, from the foundation models to the operating system technologies that bring these AI features across its platforms.
Many Apple Intelligence features will run locally on newer iPhones, while some requests may use Private Cloud Compute when more processing power is needed. Apple says that when Private Cloud Compute handles a request, the user’s personal data is not stored or made accessible to Apple or anyone else.
Apple Intelligence improvements, including the new agentic password manager, are expected to arrive with iOS 27 later this year. Users who want early access can join Apple’s Developer Program and try the beta build before the public release.
