Adobe has officially launched its first dedicated artificial intelligence smartphone app, bringing powerful generative tools to users on iOS and Android.
Named Firefly, the new app combines Adobe’s in-house AI model with integrations from top partners like OpenAI, Google, Ideogram, Luma AI, Pika, and Runway.
The Firefly mobile app aims to capitalize on the booming trend of AI-generated content—especially images and videos—shared on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. According to Adobe, subscribers will get unlimited basic image generation using Adobe’s model, while premium content from partners will require an additional fee. The pricing starts at $10/month, matching the cost of its web-based Firefly service.
To enhance creative workflows, Adobe has also introduced Firefly Boards in the web app—curated spaces that allow users to access and organize outputs from different AI models. This collaboration-driven approach positions Adobe to compete in a space where OpenAI’s Ghibli-style image generator recently drove record traffic to ChatGPT.
Adobe’s Chief Technology Officer for Digital Media, Ely Greenfield, emphasized that Firefly is trained only on legally licensed content, providing users with protection from copyright claims. “Even for many of our customers, that promise of the commercial safety and the story about how Firefly is trained continues to be an important differentiator,” he said.
