Adobe is working on powerful AI tools for Photoshop and Premiere Pro that can help users edit photos and videos more easily.

According to a blog post by Ely Greenfield, Adobe’s Chief Technology Officer for digital media, these new AI agents will not only suggest edits but also carry them out for you.

In Photoshop, the new AI agent—called a “creative agent”—will appear in a floating panel called Actions. This smart tool will analyze your photo and recommend edits based on what it sees. For example, it might suggest removing people in the background or blurring the background to focus more on the main subject. If you like the suggestion, you just click it—and the change happens automatically.

This is a big step forward compared to how people usually work in Photoshop, where editing often means carefully masking objects and working with layers. Adobe has already introduced tools like Generative Fill and Distraction Removal, but this new AI agent takes it further by understanding your photo and offering personalized editing ideas.

The best part? You can also talk to the agent using simple, everyday language. In a demo video, a user asks the agent to clean up a photo and add a text box behind someone. The agent responds with a list of steps, like removing background people, brightening the image, and organizing layers—all done with a single click.

In Premiere Pro, Adobe plans to build similar AI features on top of its new Media Intelligence system. This tool can already scan videos to identify objects and help you find the right footage. In the future, Adobe’s video-editing agent will help with rough cuts, improve shot selection, adjust color, fix audio, and more.

Ely Greenfield said, “AI can’t replace human creativity, but it can give you a strong start and help you learn complex tasks more easily.”
