Activision Blizzard has agreed to pay $54 million to resolve a gender discrimination lawsuit filed by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH), according to a press release from California’s Civil Rights Department (CRD).
The lawsuit, first brought in 2021, alleged a pervasive culture of sexual harassment and discrimination against women at the company.
The settlement, approved by a California judge, represents a significant victory for the DFEH and marks a turning point in the fight for gender equality within the gaming industry. It also sends a powerful message to other companies that discriminatory practices will not be tolerated.
