Microsoft’s virtual assistant, Cortana, is being removed from Windows 11 for Insiders. The latest preview build has officially removed the Cortana app, and Microsoft says it has ended support for the app on Windows.

“The Cortana app is removed after updating to this build. We have ended support for Cortana,” Windows Insider team members Amanda Langowski and Brandon LeBlanc announced today.

This move comes as no surprise, as Cortana has been steadily declining in popularity in recent years.

Microsoft has also been shifting its focus away from Cortana and has instead been investing in other AI-powered products, such as the new Bing search engine and Voice access in Windows 11.

While Cortana is being removed from Windows 11, it will still be available in other Microsoft products, such as Outlook mobile, Teams mobile, Microsoft Teams display, and Microsoft Teams rooms.
